Concrete Pour Before Winter Freeze

Construction of the vertical exterior walls of the house continued as Fall turned into Winter through the month of November 2021. The push was on to complete the exterior walls so that a concrete pour could be accomplished before winter freeze set in.  Once the walls were completed, it became a day-to-day assessment.  After two failed pour days, two days of warm weather presented themselves in early December and the concrete and pump truck were scheduled.

The day before, the weather forecast changed to snow with temperatures forecast above freezing but falling over the next 24 hours. The decision was made to proceed as snow was not forecast to arrive until midafternoon. An early start at 6:30 am ensured that the pour was complete, and protection installed before the snow fell.
